Under the Patronage of H.h. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai
2011 Dubai champion Caroline Wozniacki tried her luck at sand boarding in the spectacular dunes outside Dubai.
Caroline Wozniacki was in attendance at the women’s draw ceremony of the 2019 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Saturday.
The former World No. 1 is making her eighth appearance in the Championships; she lifted the trophy in 2011 (d. Kuznetsova) and finished runner-up last year to Elina Svitolina. She has also made the semi-finals on four other occasions, making this tournament a special place for the Dane.
“I love coming back here to Dubai. I have so many great memories here, obviously winning the title, going far many times here and just playing well in these courts,” said Wozniacki at the draw ceremony.
“I just have so many great experiences off the court. I did the sand boarding one year, and I also went to Wild Wadi with Dubai Duty Free. I am going to the Burj Khalifa tomorrow, which will be a lot of fun.
“It’s a place I really enjoy going back to, and a place that is always a high priority for me to put on my schedule because I love it here so much.”
Wozniacki, seeded ninth, will open her 2019 Dubai campaign against wildcard Samantha Stosur of Australia.
Tickets are available online and from the Stadium Box Office. For further information about the tournament please visit www.dubaidutyfreetennischampionships.com.
