Two-time Grand Slam champion Petra Kvitova and fellow Czech Karolina Pliskova spoke with Robbie Greenfield of Dubai Eye 103.8 at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships ahead of their main draw campaigns this week.
Kvitova, who lifted the Dubai trophy in 2013, is seeded no. 2 at this year’s event. After receiving a first-round bye, she awaits the winner between Petra Martic and Katerina Siniakova.
“Every year it’s a really tough field,” said Kvitova, who is among nine of the Top 10 WTA players represented in the stellar main draw. “We see the best players in the world playing here.”
Pliskova, the fourth seed, finished runner-up to Simona Halep in the 2015 tournament. She comes in focused and ready to take on all challengers with her powerful game.
“Petra and I play very aggressive tennis. I was raised to play this way, so I never really thought about playing different game,” she told Greenfield.
Watch on to see how both Kvitova and Pliskova enjoyed the sights and attractions around the emirate before the start of the tournament.
