March 18 2021 – DUBAI, UAE: The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium has gone green as part of St Patrick’s Day and Tourism Ireland’s ‘Global Greening’ initiative.
Famous for hosting the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, the stadium was illuminated in green as some of the world’s top players battled it out in the annual ATP 500 tournament on centre court. Also turning green was the adjoining The Irish Village, a Dubai institution offering a small piece of Ireland in the heart of Garhoud.
Several other iconic UAE buildings, including the Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab, were also lit up with green lights as part of the city-wide celebrations. The UAE landmarks joined hundreds of other international monuments, stadiums, museums and towers that also turned green for the occasion.
“It is always a pleasure supporting this special occasion which recognizes the long-standing and strong relationship between the UAE and Ireland,” Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Dubai Duty Free.
“The stadium and the Irish Village look stunning in green and we love playing our part in helping to celebrate Ireland’s National Day.”
