Rising young stars put Alexei Popyrin to the test at Emirates Junior Tennis Clinic in Dubai

Dubai, UAE – February 25, 2025: World No27 Alexei Popyrin joined some of UAE’s most promising young talents for an Emirates Junior Tennis Clinic at the 2025 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.
Testing their agility and technique, 12 teenagers between the ages of 13 and 16—among them Abdulla Al Janahi, ranked No4 in the UAE under-14 category—rallied with Popyrin, who grew up in the UAE and was once a ballboy at the tournament.
Popyrin reflected on his journey: “I was around eight or nine [years old] when I participated in my first clinic. The most important thing, no matter your level, is to have fun.”
Fresh off a 6-2. 6-4 victory over Hady Habib in the first round, Popyrin faces 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic in the second round.
