Ahead of his campaign at the 2024 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray was asked about that Dubai moment—when Andre Agassi and Roger Federer had a hit atop one of Dubai’s most recognizable landmarks: the Burj Al Arab.
“It’s pretty iconic when you had Federer and Agassi playing tennis on the top of the Burj. That was pretty wild. You don’t see that often… It’s pretty cool.”
“I’m fine with heights. It’s strange because my brother [Jamie Murray] and mother [Judy Murray] are terrified of heights, but I’m actually okay.”
The magnificent hotel also played a part in one of Murray’s memorable off-court experiences at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, when the then-world No. 1 Murray took on then-seven-time champion Roger Federer in a game of beach tennis with the iconic structure in the background.
